Advice sought....want h/duty solution, 312 sprinter 602 engine and 124 717 gearbox avoiding dual mass set up. Have SSangyong flyweel etc but small dia and driven plate centre too small [could get round that] could rob a 190 2.5d breaker if I had too. Any mb donor vehicle thoughts ?? This is for a 460 280ge upgrade...461 290 engine mounts all fits nice [ small notch on sump ]m pump, transit i/cooler, non turbo inlet with 3" ali box section insted of airbox, retaining sprinter oil cooler/filter ] will post pics when completed

Re: flywheel clutch for 602 + 124

Which gearbox number??..  717.xxx came in various types and I know for the 190 and W123/300D the later types had longer input shafts to the gearbox to allow for the dual mass flywheel; some folk just cut the input shaft down for non Dual mass flywheel use.

Here is a W124 gearbox fitted to a 280GE
http://www.gwagen.de/html/english/gearbox.html

As for places to look ... EPC list a 461.454 with 290GD = 602.946 95HP and manual box = 717.443 G: 76/27 P-5
This is a one part bellhousing with that mid bearing setup like the Getrag (shudder...) I would get a T1 van gearbox instead as it is a more robust gearbox .. you can pick them up for as little as £70 .. or £225 from a specialist.

EPC for 461.454 list a few options ..
for 602..940 with SA 43589 A 602 030 0905 (But says this is two mass flywheel)
for 602.941 & D265/250 & Duplex clutch A 602 030 16 05
for 602.981 & D265/250 & Duplex clutch? A 602 030 26 05 (did they make a dual clutch PTO?? or is this dual mass)
For 602.981 & G28 gearbox A 602 030 27 05

EPC for 461.323 = 290GD OM602.942/947 with manual 717.443/445
for 012613 option for 603.950 with follower .Has odd flywheel with "follower" which is plate trapped between crank and flywheel... Flywheel A603 030 0705 replaced by A 603 030 15 05
for 012613 option for 601.900 & 602.900 coupling version .Same drawing... Flywheel A102 030 25 05 .. old number?
for 012613 option for 601.900 & 602.900 with follower ;same Flywheel A603 030 0705 replaced by A 603 030 15 05

Following the A603 030 0705 flywheel shows it was fitted to 602.930/931/940/961/962 car engines - hum they are all G-wagons and  T1 vans...points back to using a T1 van setup from the start... . (late 210 or 310)

For 602.912 car engine it lists A605.030.3305 = dual mass, A602 020 0005, A601 030 0005 (replaced), A602 030 0705 (replaced) ..
typical as the last flywheel is one I searched on .. and they are listing it on a car engine while it is only listed as a 4x4 or van part.. seems to happen as it is possible to use it on a car.. they just never did.

Anyway give me a full gearbox number and I will give it a shot while trying to learn EPC
Ah.. got it .. OM602.912 is used in W124 250D .. so that looks like you were on the right track.
or OM602.961 went into W201 190 2.5D .. so that is alternative.

Still say a T1 van iron box with new gearshift is the right way to do it...

Re: flywheel clutch for 602 + 124

Thanks for the professional reply....wish to swap sprinter box G285 711 612 419 388 10031 and use 126 260 1701 717 433 01 1611192 [ E300 ?] My only comment so far is that the spigot on the 126 is c.25mm further back than the original box . For general info mercland and dronsfields are very patient and helpfull and do not have an inflated idea of value when confronted with the ' G ' word !!

Re: flywheel clutch for 602 + 124

 sprinter box 711 612  = G28 -5/5,05-0,78 =  711 612 419 388 10031 = sprinter box with shifter out the top of the box

on a 903.321 = 308D sprinter
it has dual mass flywheel A601 030 1705
A019 250 501 = 3 part clutch which has A001 250 7215 release bearing, A015 250 1603 Disc, A 006 250 5104 pressure plate

replace with  717 433 = W124 260E/300CE/300TE/300D/E300TD/E300 Diesel i.e. 9/1989 to 7/1993
.. presuming that is the right numbers out of the ones you quoted?

124.130 = 300D
717.433 = GL 76/27 D-5 ...looks like a Getrag "thing" (I say that as mine is dead...).
The engine is a OM603.912 which uses a A603 030 0605 Flywheel
Cluch is A124 250 0101 which uses A001 250 2515 release bearing, A013 250 48 03 disc, A004 250 65 04 pressure plate (those are the youngest numbers.. other are listed) which have nothing in common with Sprinter.
The flywheel is used behind many OM603 cars
OM603.912 is offroad i.e. G-Wagon
OM603.912 is road car
Search on OM603.912 give 300D and 300TD cars..

124.131 = E 300 Diesel .. used the 2 mass flywheel A606 030 0305... so dead end

I guess you need to confirm the Gearbox is 717.413 .. if so then a W124 car gearbox and need a flywheel off a W124 diesel 300. Not to sure that does rule using a 190 250D flywheel..
