I am looking to increase the braking performance of my W460.
Has anybody come up with anything ?
I am thinking that the first thing I would like to do is upgrade to a dual diaphragm brake booster, Is there a bolt up option ( G500, 500E, etc. ?)
I am also considering welding up the front crossmember and using it as a large vacuum reservoir like the early 463 300GD's

Hi Kurtis
when the braking system on the 460 is working correctly it is very efficient...a vacuum leak will make the pedal heavy to get the correct response .....partially siezed components resulting from moisture in the hydraulic oil corroding them will cause a multitude of braking problems......I suggest you check  these things before commencing any "mods"

Servo is just something to make the pedal lighter... it does not improve the brakes .. just the feel. Likewise on replacing the plastic vacuum tank with the front crossmember; no improvement as pretty similar volumes.

463 has vented fronts.. if you could find some spacers you could reuse your calipers but not sure how that may cause front wheels to hit calipers? (463 have different offset on their rims).

463 has rear discs.. and there is a fair bit of weight on the back if you are carrying load..

Did not know the 463 had dual booster/servo.. but anyway it would as I say just make the pedal lighter (and maybe harder to modulate)

I have seen once that on a german forum that the vantilated front disc brakes of a 500GE fits without modifications.

But never tried.

good luck
