G55 style bodykit for an older G
Hi guys, been searching for a good G for a while now and recently brought 2 at the same time! Anyways they are both late 80's 2.3 petrols and I've got plans to go for the newer G55 look. Q is where should I be looking for body parts? I want chunky bumpers, side steps etc. Will I find off the shelf parts or will I have to adapt and mould.
Any help mucho appreciato. btw I'm in the East Mids in England so if you could recommend a parts shop/scrap yard that would be great. Peace.
What you have are early G 460 models the G55 is based on the later G463 model.
If you are thinking of buying the parts for this conversion direct from MB then you will need very very deep pockets. Unfortunately the chances of you finding the parts second hand are very slim because of the rarity of the G wagon and they will still be expensive.
If you like the look of the G55 then the best place to start is with a 463 model rather than trying to convert a 460.

i would personally not advice doing this. i also had this intention years ago.. i would rather restore your 460 to its former glory strictly sticking to stock parts and original paint codes inc interior trim and bumpers.
if you insist on doing a 463 facelift you are best off sourcing them from ebay.de , better still contact guido. he owns industrytools24.de . he is on ebay and 100% the man to deal with. very honest and competitive..
