Anybody got any tips on removal of Inhibitor Switch.

Got new switch

I've located it underneath  though access to it it is not great and believe 10mm socket is needed for 2 bolts

Does the cable and plug to the switch just pull off?

Does it matter what position the transmission is in?

Re: Inhibitor Removal/ Replacement help please

Hi Marko,

I am instructing from long term memory so I could be wrong. Better to check against a workshop manual from a saloon model, the instructions will be the same.

To remove the cable, it has one those computer type fittings, There is a handle lock which you need to swing to unlock, once done pull apart thr connection.

Keep the gear lever in Park, undo the two bolts and pull away from gearbox body. Before fitting the new switch, there is a rectangular or a 'D'' section; I think in white that needs to be positioned as the metal spigot. When aligned slot the switch back on. Do not over tighten the bolts.

Thanks Rakesh,

Yes  page 126 in Manual that tells you how to unlock the connector for the cable and I tried that succesfully. One of the bolts is out of sight though and I have one socket that is too short and the other to long to get at it.(got another now)  Just need to be sure how the lever dettaches/attaches to the switch before I attempt it. I need to take a pic of it with my phone  as  you cant actually see it fully and how it all connects. Wary of moving the lever on switch when I take it off, as there are no markings on new switch to tell you positions relative to Gear lever in Cab.  I'll get there evntually.
