Hi Guys

Has anyone any idea if anyone in the UK supplies poly bushes for a G? I have found kits at ORC & online from Canada & I am researching a source in Romania but a UK supplier would be favourable. Also has anyone experimented with  or cross referenced sizes of bushes with Landrovers or other common off roaders as my friend has suggested due to their price & availability

thanks

Andy

Hello Andy,

ORC as you have mentioned is the only supplier I am aware of who do supply poly bushes; the costs' are similar to Mercedes-benz originals plus postage and packaging. I have searched for manufacturers of the same but found none, the market is not large enough to justify production.

Generally, our members are loyal to the G-Wagen product; with the exception of one or two, they would not dream of interchanging parts with other makes. Mostly for insurance reasons; in the likely hood of an Insurance claim, should the insurer find out that a non genuine part has been used, it instantly gives them reason to default on the claim.

I understand the Land Rover bushes may fit the G-Wagen which tend to last two years, if thats what you want then you are welcome to try but from personal experence the G-Wagen ones do last very well.

I think the bushes are £47 each plus VAT.

I have replaced the bushes on my 230 GES as required (MOT time). Fairly certain the ones replaced were original so allways 20 years old plus and none have needed doing in the last five years.

Used MB ones each time so if they last as long as the originals they will outlast me.

I live down down a gravel track so all bushes get a good soaking in mud so I am impressed with MB quality.

polybushes impose rigidity in place of bushes with a degree of flex, this can work well in sports cars on smooth roads but I don't see the point in a g-wagen
