Is it possible to overgrease propshaft UJ's, I know in theory you can turn the prop into a hydraulic ram by over greasing it but the actual UJ's?

Also what is the best grease? My local GKN place put some green grease, almost looks same colour as Citroen LHM fluid, wouldn't sell me any, but assured it was the best, do grease's mix? I have read warnings about this, though surely you would have to overgrease prop to purge it?

I go along with Gordon, use lithium or molybdenum grease. In my view, there is no harm in over greasing UJ's as the excess grease will squeeze out. The seal elasticity will reseal the joint. Mixing greases is not a good idea, as is with eninge oils, reasons, I don't fully understand but it is to do with reacting chemical properties of the various greases.

I don't see a problem with purging grease as you have suggested. When greasing the slide joint, the work shop manual suggests five strokes of grease.

If you use your truck wading a lot use synthetic grease as it's waterproof.   It comes in all sorts of pretty colours, which could be what the green stuff was.   The stuff I use is red and it doesn't react with ordinary grease so it can be mixed.  It's called XXX superlube

Keep pumping the universal joints until clean new grease comes out the first time you use synthetic.   After the first time, I would suggest it depends on use.   If you've been in dirt, mud and water a lot pump until clean new stuff comes out each time.   If you are sticking to ordinary grease, then if the vehicle has had a lot of off road use pump out all the old grease.

The sliding joint is fine with 5 strokes..
