Has anyone managed to get a recharge with the old R12 this year?  The new 134 stuff that we are supposed to be using is a smaller molecule and leaks out of my York compressor (factory fitted system in a 280GE) around the shaft seal (I think).  I know the R12 is banned so perhaps a public reply to this post would not be a good idea.  I would be grateful for a  PM if you know of a co-operative source in the south east or in south Wales. Otherwise it's a new compressor and clutch change.  Anyone done this and have a suggestion for a replacement compressor to use the York mounting points? - adaptor plate of some sort likely to be required.

 Hello consur,

My understanding of the use of new gases is that, the compressor seals and other seals in the system need to be replaced to conform to the new gas used, hence the probable leakage problem you have.

Untill I look into this topic further, that's all I can input.

Cheers,
