Has anyone any experience of this spare wheel carrier available from German ebay?

www.ebay.de/itm/Mercedes-G-Ersatzrad-Halter-G-Klasse-Reserveradhalter-Neu-Felgenbild-Ausen-/250917302485

It seems to make it possible to mount your spare the other way round so the posh side faces out meaning that you no longer need a cover .....

My only thought is that it may put more stress on the mounting holes in the rear door - any thoughts please?

Re: Spare wheel carrier

While I can't access the Ebay ad from work my 1988 Australian delivered G-Wagen has a carrier that puts the face out and has done 362,000 kms including two round Australia trips without showing any sign of problems. While I can see that there may be greater leverage applied to the carrier and door it would seem that the mounting and bracket are engineerred to cope with this.

My two previous G's also had this carrier without and sign of an issue for door or bracket.

FWIW
