W463 FACELIFT 300GDS DIESEL TURBO INTERCOOL
Any thoughts on this one posted on ebay - I'm thinking about a bid. Looks like a turbo guage fitted on the dash next to the heater controls. Presume these 'turbo' units are an aftermarket job.
I am no expert as everyone here will attest to, but that engine look EXACTLY like a shiny version of my old 300GDL's lump.
Nicely presented beast though.
Yes the turbo diesel is aftermarket as it was not offered by MB in H reg. There were several firms who did conversions in the early '90s. Crewe and TB turbos.
Guage could be boost or exhaust temperature
A good example; if it can be clinched for under £10K a good price too, shame it is a manual; I prefer autos.
Brake fluid is overdue renewal though, gauging it by the discoloured fluid in the reservoir.
Just don't overheat it,ever! Or you will be after a NA 603
Though is the STT conversion, I thought they came with intercooler?
Very nice.....except for the scabby cig lighter socket!!!!!!

STT did do intercoolers but this had to be opted for, it was not an automatic given part of the kit. Having said that, I think that, this model has an intercooler since the intake pipe comes from the near-side of the radiator indicating from intercooler. Other wise the intake pipe would sit on the rocker cover to air filter housing.
I think this one is a turbo technics low pressure system, garrett turbo, intercooled, Mercedes approved, Fixwin38 knows more
Insurance disc/plate/sticker no, unlike other EU countries. Tax, yes currently although it's probably going to be phased out as evrything is done electronically these days.
I can be a bit fussy about ebay G's,this one looks rather better than the usual offering even though its from a plant hire man.
Proper turbo installation with intercooler behind grille...not keen on the demon tweaks air filter..603 3 litre may not have oil jet piston cooling for turbo but should not be a problem at the .5 bar of this type.
Obviously an earlier in its life conversion should have settled down by now !!
I guess 12 would buy it and that wd be good value if it is ' as described '...G dealers would ask [ a lot ] more
Went for £8950.00
No discs in the windscreen. Is there a requirement in UK to display roadtax / insurance discs ?
Notice that the Blaubunk cassette deck. I could introduce my ABBA tapes...
