Water leak from under the bonnet
My battery tray is filling up with water after rain. I think this is casued by water coming through bonnet and dripping onto the tray - caused by the road camber making the truck lean.
Has anyone found a cure for this other than filling the tray with Waxoil? It seems to be a design fault that allows water inside the bonnet.
This is the easiest fix. Put a piece of tape over the hole on the underside of the bonnett immediately above the battery. You will see several holes along the length of the bonnett. Cover them all. That's what was there when it left the factory
If there is corrosion around the tray, it's best to remove the battery and clean the area well and paint it with a corrosion prevension paint to stop it spreading. Water and battery acid make a bad combination on the steel
how about this for a battery tray/bulkhead nightmare ,you can see the relays etc through the hole!
Thank you for these photos Axel.
Thanks, I was plotting some kind of gutter attached to the underside of the bonnet but couldnt figure out how to attach it. I'll try some tape and see as the water is making a big mess of the battery tray
