what oil to use 300GD W460 axle

  Hi

   Can anyone tell me what type off oil to use in the  front axle.

   I have just carried out a full front axle service on my 300gd W460 ,and  the oil needs topping up for the drive shafts. I am not 100% sure but   got SAE 85W 90 as the type of oil to use.... also is MB the best place to purchase a new nut as the other one on the g wagon is abit           damaged where the allenkey goes in.

Hello Sati,

Your are right, the correct oil is a hypoid SAE 85W/90 oil and in hotter climbs, a hypoid SAE 90 oil.  The oil capacity is 1.6 Lts.

Mercedes Benz is a better place to buy the plugs, they won't be a rip off price.  The threads are not a simple parallel cut, it is graduated, try to find a match for that one.
