When I bought my vehicle the wires going to the rear door were trapped flat every time the door closed. I have inspected the spring retaining system and I guess that this will work again if I could get everything else straight and back in some sort of conduit. Has anybody any experiance of this repair?

Vic b,
Yes just recently had the same problem, I was able to salvage enough of the origional undamaged wriggely conduit to make do across the gap, though I used a suitable piece of garden hose to extend and U bend same inside rear piller to give the retraction spring a cleaner pull, then liberally sprayed all with silacon, has worked OK since.

The black conduit is part # AA4638210097 and is shown by the Benz parts site as 7.03 euros the lock ring N000471019000 .38 euro and the grommet A2019970281 .89 euro.

If you have not got an EPC – they are worth having – otherwise go to you local Benz parts store and have a look at what you need it looks cheap and simple enough to use the original bits
. Good Luck

There are 2 types: the EPC compact which is on CD and covers just the “G 460 461 & 463 depending on which serial number you use – available from MB dealers for about 40 euros (under EU law is has to be sold to you though it might be hard to get in the UK) And there is a universal EPC on DVD which covers all MB vehicles and allows reverse part number lookup to trace a part number to a vehicle type. I got one on ebay and it works very well, a better option in my opinion – I have both.
