Offroad Preparing
In searching for off road protection apart from ORC are there any other companies that do G bits, I'm looking for front and rear bumpers, snorkel and side protection! :)
max you want to go on suspension is 40mm, just the springs will do, you can keep standard shocks. You can lift the body if you want but unless your fitting 35" dont bother. ORC and extreme are the only ones unless you fabriacte your self. ORC fabricate most of the acc's them selves. Either way both companies are quite expesnsive but you get what you pay for. I use the 40mm springs from ORC, never had any probelms with them dropping, un like most other UK soruced springs.
Mark at Vulture trading (07790183201) can fabircate a snorkel from Stainless and bumpers for you in his workshop in Kent. He is about to cut the roof of mine and make SS roll cage, rock sliders etc. He's jsut spent £££££££££££££££ on manderal bender etc. He made winch bumpers front and rear for my off roader.
curious as to know what you have bought, you were after a G400, are you intending on lifitng that, if so then thats a bit different. 463 dont like being lifted unless you fit a double cardon front prop shaft to eleminate vibration.
So Benzworld forum didn't manage to persuade you to go for the G500 then. I would call ORC and ask there advise on raising springs for your G400 as they will give you good advise.
so you are going to mod and off road your G400, when you do can I come and watch.
good thinking, I just hope in 12 months time you've haven't joined the Range rover sport club slagging of your G400 due to niggly faults. :?

What's the difference in lifting for 460/1 and 463? What is "cardong shaft" ? I've got problems with vibration, even after I changed 2 "bushings" that brings the front axle to normal position ...
I thought a cardon/cardan? shaft was the fancy French way of saying a prop shaft?, I presume complete with universal joints, some of the Citroens had such a shaft between the engine and the front mounted gearbox.
Do you mean a double close coupled set of universal joints, I think I have seen this set up somewhere, though I could not /can not figure out why it does not run out of line.
Useless information I know
Marcus
Universal joints normally mean 2 knuckle joints as you see on the prop shafts as std
Cardon joint = ball linked/driven universal joint like you see on a fwd car drive shaft, this is a more perfect transmission joint so that you do not get speed variations.. hence less vibrations. I think RR now have them on some props for this reason.
Thanks Maxwell
I also want to lift the vehicle but don't want to start changing brake pipes and shafts and stuff whats the recomended lift?
