Looking for help regarding converting a '98 463 KPH speedo to MPH.

Can I just buy a dial kit? If so, where from?

You will need to buy the whole dial panel at £540.

Just got a replacement AMG dial cover for an ML from ebay, which has miles and kms. This seems easy to fit, and eliminates the need for getting a new speedo- only problem is that it has a white backgroung with blue letters (cost £30). Perhaps something similar is available or can be adapted for G's as well- worth examining at least!

ipanema - does that go over the existing dial or replace a similar sheet? Am wondering since part of the requirements are that it has to be lit.

It replaces a similar sheet, which has to be removed together with the dials and then replaced.

The miles travelled will still be in KPH though.

Yes they will, however it seems to cover the UK requirements and save the cost of a new unit- and of course there is a continuity in the kms shown, as there is no new zeroed speedo installed
