Hello all,

Little bit of info had the rad replaced in my 92 300 GES 18 months ago only to find that hey presto middle blocked again! after some enquiries on this forum was told that if the correct anti freeze was not used this could happen, passed this on to garage they said highly unlikley probably due to hard water. Anyway I perseved and had the rad tested and low and behold it was blocked due to wrong anti freeze!! So 2 supposed top Merc garages dont know there stuff and im £1800.00 out of pocket (replacing rad is £900 a time inc new rad)

Could the helpfull guy who gave me the tip in the first place post the exact type and solution I should be using and does anybody know a decent mechanic/garage near Oxford?

first off all why are you paying £900 for a radiator :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: . Are you mad. You could have had that re-cored for £110. You could have had an aluminium rad made to your own spec or exacxtly the same by alusport for around £250. so please tell me why you have gone to Mercs and paid them £1800.

Please Please.

not very fair Peter

Its hardly fair to call him mad, even in jest.He has been ripped off, yes, but it is not his fault.People are ripped off every day by unscrupulous types. He will ,presumably have learned to get better advice,(probably here) in future.

I'm sorry but you can hardly say its not his fault, thats why this forum exist's surely, are you suggesting Mercedes are unscrupulous because from his posts it looks like they have repaired it, but I may be wrong.

I dont have sympathy for people that are preparred to waste money like that, wether they can affored it or not. I know all this sounds a bit harse but ask a question in here and 90% of the time you'll get some one coming back with an answer to save you ££££££££.

Tarrick, its was me that was the helpful guy, look at your post on the 8th of June. I did give you an indication of a re*core then. I also said Type30 antifrezze and dilute at 50%
You have been a member since Dec 04 so we could have saved you money if you had asked the question earlier.

Maddness

Rad was £490.00 rest was fitting, yes your right I must be mad for trusting these people, one by the way was noted in these forums as being a good garage and G friendly. All I want now is to be sure I use the right anti-freeze and hopefully to find someone I can trust to service advise on my G
