g 500 query
just purchased a 1999 g500 lhd ,
it has a switch on centre dash to the right of diff locks with a petrol symbol on it , down position 1 mark , up pos 2 marks , centre pos no marks , also vehicle has extra centre fuel tank , also fitted with webasto pre heater ,has anyone seen this setup before and if so how does it work, its all factory fitted , thanks
I'm guessing that it is the switch for the second tank switching the fuel guage and the source. A bit of testing and driving should shed some light on it. Nice G
interesting stuff, never knew the G (specially 463) came with an extra fuel tank option! Never seen one here with that option, perhaps it came with the extra heating (again not seen here in the UAE, perhaps because of the warm weather!)
perhaps somebody here who is more widely travelled could shed some light, please check the manual(s) to see if it tells you what the total capacity is (96L original tank + ?)
did you not ask the questions from who you purchased it from ?. The webasto's normally work on a timer inside the cab, a digital panel normally fixed near auto box selector or its a remote key fob so you can turn it on from the house or when your away from the truck.
Not seen the twin tank option, but normally 2 tanks would plumbed in together, is there a seperate filller cap for tank 2.
then I would have a scramble underneath and follow the fuel line of the second tank to see if there is any inline servo fuel valve. What happens when you switch tanks does the gauge change at all.

no second filler , which is the bit i dont understand
