Can I fit a rear wash/wipe on a 290GD LWB?
How feasible is it to fit a rear wash/wipe to my 290GD LWB? At the moment, there is a Japanese-style rear bumper viewing mirror mounted in the hole where the wiper would go.
Secondly, on the basis that I am more likely to damage than improve things, who / where is the best place to get it fitted by, if its not going to be punitively expensive. I'm based either in Kingston in Surrey or in Taunton in Somerset.

the short answer is "yes", as i recall a dealer once fitted one to an old 230GE SWB, "by mistake" at a service, and i'm pretty sure that didn't even have the hole to begin with,so i think it can be retrofitted to any G (with the single rear door).

It can be easily fitted, as it was factory fitted to most 290 GDs. And it should not be that expensive, given that there is no linkage (the motor is connected directly to the wiper arm). And you can easily buy all the parts second-hand.
If you are not too bothered about it being genuine Merc components, you should be able to buy a proprietry rear wash/wipe kit at virtually any motor factor worthy of the name. It'll come with fitting instructions too.
