what do you think it could be??? please any help would be so gratfull, i have just spent my last penny on this , and cant really afford to repair it? but i guess il have to,
A freind says it need a big service and has offerd to do it for me, he knows about g wagons. i called the aa out and he said maybe rotor arm and distributor cap ? to be changed? but he was not sure?? any ideas?

230 FROM 87 BACKFIRING ???? HELP

well it can only be two things, timing related which can be rotor arm and dizzy cap but you can tell that by just looking at them, the AA man should have taken them off and had a look.

You can get them from halfords, if its sluggish then it could be timing and with it back firing and not wanting to start it sounds like that is the cause. So invest in a new rotor arm dizzy cap and plugs.

It could also be fuel starvation, most people forget to change fuel filter, this builds up pressure as the Bosch jetronic is a pressurised system and can burn out the pump and/or relay, but I sense timing and electrical problems.
