Help
I have just aquired a 463 300GDL and the transfer-box fluid level seems low. What fluid do I use to top up and where is the correct level on these.
Any info very welcome
Many thanks

Re: transmision oil level

Looking at the WIS the 463 300gd has a 750.65 transfer case, the capacity is 2.8 liters. I would fill it to the level of the filler plug with SAE 80 oil and run it for a while and then drain and refill with a good quality synthetic like Millers TRX synth 75W90 or any other high quality synthetic – the spec is for 80, 80W, 80W85 so 75W90 should be ok. Modern synthetic gear oils are GL4 & GL5 in one so are good for both diffs and synchro boxes like the transfer case.
I run this in my 460 transfer case and diffs. The extra protection from synthetics is well worth the extra cost.

Re: transmision oil level

many thanks for the info
When I found the filler plug on the front of the transfer box it would'nt
budge !
Had to refill the box through the drain plug.
Will sort out the offending filler plug when I get access to pit or lift.
