Newbie awaiting his G300D :-)
Hello everybody,
I think I'm living one of the happiest moments of my life.
After carefully browsing this forum and other G-fora, I bought, best birthday present (30th) ever, a W463 G300D LWB (08/1990) with 220.000km, in silver metallic.
Test driving was already a dream come true, can't wait to park it in my garage by the end of next week.
Overall I'm very happy with MB (other car is a MB A170cdi (5yr old 160.000km) which we use every day without any glitch so far) and so is everybody in my family (from old 190D (=ponton)- 220 SE -280SE - 230E - 500E - A140- except ML270cdi)
The garage who sells it, still has some work on it, mainly minor details and installing the privacy windows, the post 2000 white coloured indicators (back side & front) , the clear glass headlights, remote control,...
But still I have some questions for which I didn't really find any answers:
1. the zebrano wood is not in the best condition & I wood like to change it to walnut burl. Does anybody has done this or how much this would be by ordering through MB or any idea to have this done aftermarket (crashed G's or other specialists) ? Is retrofitting überhaupt possible ?
2. I rather like the chrome/stainless steel inlays in the side protect rubbers like on the new G55 ? Does anybody has ordernumbers/prices for these parts? I suppose that they are glued ?
3. I saw on E-bay that there are original AMG sport pedals (like I have installed on my A http://elchfans.de/fahrerdatenbank/a-klasse_detailansicht.php?aklasse=2450 ), I think you already know what's next? Does anybody has ordernumbers/prices for these parts? Keeping in mind that it is a manual shift, so you think that maybe the clutch & brake can be taken let's say from an E-class pedal ?
4. Last item are the stainless door sills with "Mercedes-Benz" on it (not-illuminated) just for the two front doors, ...
5. I'm planning to change the interior with leather upholstery and heated frontseats and I would like to have an idea how much those heating-mats are?
Keep up the good work
