Interior Light Relay
Hi,
I am a new member here. I am in Indonesia and just purchased a 280GE W460 year 1992.
I have a problem with the interior lights (both front and rear lights) which fail to be triggered by any of the door switches. The interior lights can be switch on manually from the lamp selector.
I read the forum archive regarding the interior lights problem that mention the failure is on the relay near the glovebox.
I check it out on mine and found the relay (the relay that make a clicking sound when I open/close the door switch with the light is manually switch on).
The relay number is 002 545 82 05, however I find difficulties to get the parts localy here. Can somebody help me out. What is the function of this relay? Does it feature a time delay/dimmer to the interior lights?
How much does this relay cost out there?
Thank you for the help...
Regards,
Thomas
Part is described as A0025458205 TIME-LAG RELAY and priced at EUR 140.34 in Germany. But I was wondering... can the problem be in the door switches? in my older 460 they were full of mud (for obvious reasons) and I managed to get them to work with a little bit of TLC.
BTW, if you want to know the price of any MB part in Germany, you just have to input the ref number here:

Mortinson, thanks for the info.
I will also check all the door switches to make sure.
Do you have the wiring diagram of the interior lights? Seems the wiring diagram I have for 280GE does not have the feature of the time lag relay.
Thanks again.

Now that's intriguing! I did not know that 460s had ever had this feature but I guess that very late 460s such as yours might have had it given that it was fitted to contemporary 463s. Funnily, I thought it impossible for a 460 to have been made in 1992 but I confirmed that the latest 280 GELs were made in 1991 which I guess make it possible for some to have been first registered in 1992.
And no, the wiring plans I have seen for 280 GEs do not feature this device.....
In case anyone interested I have managed to build a couple of small circuit boards that will do just the above for those of you without the courtesy delay. they are adjustable from about 10 to 45seconds and are very easy to connect to theG circuitry..
