Spring tips.
I have got to change both front coils on my old G.any tips to speed the job up,I have done loads on L**d R*v*rs and learned some useful methods to make the job easier but never done a G.
drop the axles, its easier.
you need to jack the car up and put the chassis on axle stands, then put the jack under the axle, undo all thats needed then slowly then let the jack down to drop axle enough to pull springs out, you will have enough play in the track rod. What peole do forget is the bushes in the trailing arms can wear which will give you a wandering G. If you want to go the whole hog take off the trailing arms and get the old bushes pushed out and replace with new, this way you will get a nice firm set up with out having to do the process twice.
poly bushes, no but we are looking for a guinea pig to send old G bushes to one of these poly bush manufacturers. Fancy being one
Surely it would be better to buy a couple of new ones from MB and send them not worn ones
powerflex. a girl i know, her dad used to own it or still owns part of it (shes got a smart car with the name down the side still) they are usully on the back of classic ford, have a try they love their cars.
We in the GWOA tried the Polybush route a few years back. Problem is that I did some reseach to find out how many people would be interested in buying a set of suspension bushes so that we could get a quotation from Polybush. The answer is NEGLIGIBLE. The OEM ones are do good that you have to change one or two if your truck is 25 years old but that's it. Not the full set. And with that and even at MB prices it's better to go to your friendly  MB dealer and order them there...
Can you leave the steering gear attached or is there not enough movement?
