does anyone have a rought price for the speedo and a part number?
any help would be great, need to get it sorted before mot!

I can lend you one, it only takes 5 mins to swap. Don't think speedo is an mot item,
Speedo is not an mot fail item. if it should fail, you have legitimate grounds for appeal because it is a non testable item.
if you want any more mot info, please give me a bell.

correct, also not having a windscreen is not an MOT failure either, so I am led to believe, but a crack obscuring the view is.

the windscreen can indeed have a crack in it as long as it is OUTSIDE THE SWEEP OF THE WIPER BLADE. so, if you have a crack, change to smaller wiper blades.
further to this entertaining discusion, if the lights dont work, take them all off. this is not a reason for rejection at the mot test station BUT the tester MUST inform you that it is not wise to drive the vehicle after dark.
Also of interest is that if the rear seat belts are full of biscuit crumbs & sweets, take the seats & seat belts out & tell the tester that you have converted it to a van. if the tester says that your car is a car on the vosa database, tell him or her not to worry as they can LEGALY make a manual entry to the effect that they are testing a van not a car.
Please bear in mind that the mot test is simply a check of the MINIMUM safty requirements of a motor vehicle, you will find that these minimum requirements are less severe than a good service. also worth remembering that the tester CANNOT remove any part of thhe vehicle to check anything, even known corrosion areas, a case in point, vauxhall cavalier sill covers, more often than not hide serious corrosion.

cheers bill ever generous, i think id rather just get it fixed though, that ticking sound is like some korean torture.
do you think it will fail because of the tick or at the right mot centre will it make it through?
