Has anyone heard of a Rotweil winch?
Apparently my car was fitted with one originally. I say the one day I’ll take a turfor, the next day I’m looking for the original winch…

Re: Original winch

No, its second hand. Stupid prices new. They are very hard to find - just got lucky for once. I can send you a pic possibly. I think for an independant trip Bills point about mounting front and back is a good one, there is a clever mounting plate that will fit in the pin hitch (rear) and pin bumper (front) - when you get stuck you usually need to go back. Then again if you have rolled electric or hydraulic aren't much use but a tirfor and ground anchor will get you back up (and will fit the same pin mounts). - food for thought. If two cars then an electric winch will solve most problems. Hmmmmm decisions decisions

I think that the name is Rotlzer. It was option code G52 "Elektroseilwinde" and you had to pay DM 4,779 for this in 1982. I attach a couple of pictures taken from the 1980 brochure

Re: Original winch

That winch looks remarkably similar to the od style ramsey/pierce re1200,

It just looks like it's been mouted upside down.

Re: Original winch

There was one a while ago on ebay needing a rebuild - it went for 1490 Euros. Just as well go and buy a modern industrial(think forestry) winch - same concept, better (motor/electricals)design. Worm-drive means auto-braking by design. Simply the best electric winch you can get. Not a "lifestyle" product, but a tool that's been designed to WORK all day long every day for years...

Re: Original winch

I have decided to go for a turfor. I want as little as possible weight, I'm not going to be in a hurry and I will most probably not get stuck.

If I was staying here I would have considered a winch.

Re: Original winch

By the way, are the original bumpers stong enough to be mounted and used with a 9000lbs winch? Especially to winch out the G when it is bogged down in a stream or the likes.

Re: Original winch

Phew ... done already! I intended to design a new one after looking at all the beautiful postings, then ship the original over to Stevie. But when the fabricator looked at it, he said that it was strong enough and he went ahead to mount it. Sticks out a wee bit, but for a non hard core, it will do just perfect.

Sorry Stevie .. saw some threads with you still searching for the pin bumper.

Blimey!

Is that PTO powered?

Where did you get the pictures from (i.e. who owns it)?

Make and model?

Re: Original winch

i think this is the first time i've seen ANYTHING attached to the PTO..let alone a winch in that awkward position, tho it does make sense..trust the austrians and germans to think of everything!
