Rear brake componentsprices for 463
Hi all,
Had a chat with a guy from Southern Ireland, being quoted silly money for, effectively consumables, on the rear brakes of a 463.
He needs, 2 brake cylinders, shoes and possibly drums.
Anyone recently carried this out?
surely Europarts are the source for all this?
Am I right in thinking the sprinter van is a common factor with the rear of a 1991 463?
If you could let me know... if only to give him a good nights sleep!!....
I recently bought the same from my local MB dealer.
These were the prices (before discount):
Brake Drums (MA 601 423 50 01): £35.63 each
Brake Shoes (MA 602 430 18 22): £173.52 per set of 4
repair kit (tension springs, clips, lockwashers etc.) (MA601 421 00 92): £8.90 for two sides
Brake Slave cylinders (MA011 420 88 18): £29.89 each
Drum retaings screws (MN 000965 008051): £0.37 each
I think that apart from the brakes shoes, the prices are quite reasonable.
However. the shoes that I received were refurbished and re-clad and so there may have been a trade-in value for the old ones.
You may get cheaper prices from the likes of Euro Car parts.
Most of the brake and axle components come from the 407/508 Mercedes vans (pre-sprinter), though the Sprinter may indeed be the same. You can see that the above part numbers do not begin with 460 or 463, so they are not exclusively for the G-wagen.
sprinter has disk on rear, its the 461 and later 463 that were fitted with disk on rear where the similarity stops.
