I'm new to this G-wagon owning lark so I just need to check this with you chaps. On my 300GD wagon I have a clicking from the front o/s wheel when moving on full lock. To me this is normally a worn (very worn) CV. Is is likely to be anything else on a G?

If it's a CV where can I get one cheap(er than MB)? Anyone got a GKN part number for instance.

It could be – any idea how long since they were done – they should be good for over 100k. MB don’t sell the CV – they make you buy the whole axle – silly money. You can get GKN / spidan joints but you need to make sure you get the right one as there are different spline diameters.
Try a search here http://www.benzworld.org/forums/g-class/ for cv joints there is a lot of stuff on it. Also http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=57 is good.
If you need CVs then you should also do a front axle service – there is loads of stuff here http://www.clubgwagen.com/gtech.php?sid=listAll&pageTitle=Article%20Inde...

I got a bunch of NTN bearings for the front axles Japanese very high quality see http://www.gwoa.co.uk/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=855

Good Luck

Re: Possible CV problem.

Thanks for the reply Ernest.

I've got plenty of reading to do :D

Not sure when the CV where last changed but the odometer says 70k, but I'm expecting that means 170k given that it's an '84 model.
