Unfortunately, the time has come for me to change the front discs and pads in my 463 GE300 SWB. As far as I can make it out the discs are solid. Will there be any advantage in replacing them with ventilated ones? If so, do I need to also change the specification of the pads and calipers???
Finally I'll be grateful to hear of a source that these can be obtained without having to pay the galactic 3 point star prices.

Re: Disks and Pads

A few of the Australian G Owners have been sourcing their discs and pads out of the UK (through an Australian Importer) at very reasonable prices. As a guide we are paying about Aus$150 a pair for 460 rotors and about $50 for the pads. This is about 60 and 20 quid respectively.

I imagine that they will be even cheaper over there. They are Quinton Hazell which will probably be available through any large parts shop in the UK.

The catalogue is here http://www2.qha.com/catalogues/QH15.pdf

As an aside we have also had owners very pleased with the Lip Gas shocks which are also available through QH. I hope that this is of some help.

Re: Disks and Pads

Many thanks. I have managed to source the parts through Europarts at a very reasonable cost. The discs are made in Germany by Eicher and the pads by Jurdo ( Honeywell) The pads are shared by the Mercedes flatback truck and other makes such as Volkswagen.
Cost: 85 pounds incl VAT. Mercedes 289 exc. VAT.
It pays to research !
