MMmmmm let me see 10MPG, 380 miles round trip not including runs around wales, 38 gallons x £4 a gallon = £150 in fuel and some, WHAT DO YOU THINK! Im cadging a lift mate.
Russ, your a local man. Any ideas for places to stay? Cheap and cheerful, public house or even a camp site. :)
I think we should try to break two world records. 1) the most g wagens seen in a line on a lane ia wales. 2) how many you can get to sleep in marks roof tent.
Thats funny, i was only wondering where we would end up staying today?
Looking at the available options Marks tent does seem inviting
Who else needs accomodation(join the list)
Dawn, Helen, Shaun, Rob, Ian, Mark..............................................

Leave that one with me. I've never actually stayed in Machynllech but will see if I can come up with some suggestions.
Russ
How big is this roof tent ?
Farting and snoring all under one roof!!!
Russ please come up with something.
No-one said record breaking would be easy  :?:
How about http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/hostelpages/189.html
Unfortunately I have checked with them and it is not available for exclusive hire the weekend of the 20th, but there is plenty of space including a 6 bed family room still available. If only we had got our act together earlier an exclusive hire could have worked out really well. We have done it in the past with large groups of friends, can be real laugh, maybe next year.
OK another thought.
There’s a Travel Lodge in Oswestry, which will be en-route to Machynllech / Tal y Llyn for most people, and just down the road from us. If anyone fancies staying over on the Saturday night we could meet up for a few beers / food and then travel on to Tal y Llyn on the Sunday morning.
Russ
do i need to book or can i just turn up? do we go for a little offroad drive? nothing to much tho!?
Cheers simon
It not an off road event but some of us might be going done some lanes prior to the sunday as we are travelling up friday.
if your thinking of doing some gentle/easier lanes on the sat, please let me know as id like to have a go and it seems a better idea to try it with experienced drivers at hand to advise me!
Cheers simon
there is a lovely camp site near Tallyn click below
http://walestouristsonline.co.uk/snowdonia/campsite/Cwmrhwyddfor.htmtoms camp site _Cadair Idris -Snowdonia
humble and ample surroundings. been there many times. Wish I could join
as well
yes shakir, so do we, you could have cooked the kebabs all weekend.
What is the form for the Sunday? just admiring each others Gs or what.
Cheers Fred
you could use this campsite just down the road from the meeting point , we used it last weekend when laning .
I post a pic of mark set up on site :D .
Ian I promise I will do that one day. funny enough everyone is recommending the same camping place. take losts of 20p for the hot water.
So who is going to camp at that site?............
we are still deciding the best place to go, would love to know who's camping where.
Camping...............Snowdonia..................October............we must be mad :!: :!: :!:
try december in the back of a vw lt van inbetween motorbikes. i couldnt walk the special test cos i was thoring out my legs for an hour the next morning!
Know exactly what you mean. Woke up on top of stelvio pass one morning in the back of the sprinter because of the gentle rustle of snow falling. Literally flung the snow off the winscreen and left quick - luckily it was 6am and they hadn't closed the road yet. I sure didn't want to get stuck up there for 2 weeks or something. But man was I cold. Got down into the first little town and found a hot capuccino, still shivering :o
This one of the few pictures I managed before leaving
Thank you Mark for getting back to the point :!: Yep that campsite does look good, but not snowy or cold enough for those more rugged members :!: :!:
Dawn & Shaun what do you think :?:
All these welsh campsites allow campfires - brilliant - this must be an indication as to how cold it gets and how many midges there are
Thank you Mark for getting back to the point
Sorry, that was me getting carried away
Campsite looks good and should be just fine
Hey thats ok, i love being reminded of how pathetic i can be in the cold / wet :!:
are many going up on the saturday?
cheers simon
Yep campsite looks fine, will book us in later.Helen you taken your tent and hotwater bottle, thermals, gloves and woollen hat? (sexy)
Must also give Richard a ring with sunday lunch orders.
are many going up on the saturday?
We will arrive Saturday lunchtime probably - long drive from Kent.
Dawny didn't we say girls in caravan, boys in tent :?: Or was that just a dream
i hope your all not going too turn up in your brand new g's? will there be some crusty ones there? im in the crusty category!
simon
Mine is so crusty that 1. it still is covered in mud from weeks ago.
2. Its running so badly (despite attempts to improve it)that we have yet to decide whether we are going to attempt the drive.
3. the exhaust is blowing (sounds ok though)
4. Inside its not so bad, conkers :o everywhere :!:
I now have 4 days to get it finally sorted and my mechanics wife has had a baby so he is not available for 2 weeks - damn paternity leave, us self employed people don't get it, why should the rest of you.
If any of you guys fancy some mountain biking try this
http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-6cqhhs
Or if you just fancy a coffee / food / walk. We use it for meetings, what hardship :(
It's about 15mins north from your camp site.
