Hallo all,

Thanks

Thanks!

I'm from beautifully Romania. If some of you has a trip here give me a notice and I'll be glad to meet you and to have some not very, very extreme rides to the wild mountains. Maybe I'll post some pictures for you.

You were lucky that they didn’t let you by force without jeans in the underwear ;)). In the past even if you had money you didn’t find to buy some stuffs. Now, you can find anything (except thai and black magic women) if you have money. Unfortunately, starting 2007 we will enter in the European Union and our freedom will be history from the point of wiev of the rigour of the new stupid laws. The taxes for owning the cars will increse with 23% for example, etc. Regarding the landscape and the wild nature, here is gorgeous. I hope it will remain the same. I have noticed that you are from The Northen Ireland. I like there. I have been worked in Ireland some time ago, close to the border with Northen Ireland. The people that I meet there were nice and friendly. In that period I made there a lot of bikers friends (I use to ride motorcycles) and we use to do trips together. The rainy whether pissed me off a little bit. Here we have much more sunny days per year and in winter plenty of snow. Today we have the first snow from this winter.

Regarding the ORC springs,........, could someone tell me if the car will be more incomfortable on the back part comparing with the progressive springs provided by MB? On my G I have heavy duty red stripes springs from factory on the front part, on the back they are progressive (I don't know their colour code because they are rusty).

you will have vibrations problems by fitting taller springs on your 463. you may need a DC prop. It would have been better lifiting the body 40mm and fitting 35" thus keeping the geometry the same and keeping COG lower down.

Well pointed out peter.I would be reluctant to cause any adverse effects to the ride unless i was using it for extreme conditions. But i do remember shakir being very happy with his springs ,especially when loaded up.

Re: 35" tyres on a 463 LWB G

yes guys, i have been using these springs for almost 3 years now, on my 460 1986 280 GEL. As far as I am concerned loaded or not loaded the car goes as if it is on rails. I have KONI shocks . Very good ride comfort .And whilst travelling with so much load the springs didnot even showed it at all.
but you really need someone who knows about 463's.

I'm afraid my English is not so perfect and there are some words that I don't understand like "DC prop"and "COG". Could you explain me?

Re: 35" tyres on a 463 LWB G

there is a difference guys, between rasing the 460 and 463. I fitted 40mm ORC springs to my 230 460, performed perfect, on and off road. With the 463 its different. Even ORC will admit this. I know of 3 people that have had trouble by raising 463's.

When rasing the springs you are changing the geometry of the front prop which then brings it out of balance, which on the 463 being permenant 4wd exaggerates the problem even more. With a DC prop like the one below it adds another joint which then brings the angle of what would be one joint, in line again.

Our fried "piggysims" (Richard Sims) who frequents this forum has a G400CDI, who when raised the body, had niggly vibrations. A recently fitted DC prop has cured it, however he has found other vibrations in the car, but that could be somthing to do with the recent xmas shop to Ann summers. :P

DC means "double cardon" joint props.
COG means "centre of gravity"

Hu55, heres a tip, get a hair dryer and heat up the vinyl, it will make it easier to peel off the lettering, and keep those little pinkys warm.

I mean trying to peel of vinyl on a cold day like today, anyone would think you owned a landrover. Here at the GWOA forum we only except clever indivduals of an IQ above 115.

Re: 35" tyres on a 463 LWB G

cheers peter for the advice,I learnt the hard way!
I have more sense than to own a l/r but i am pushed for time cos i open my shop at 07:30 and had to get the van to the body shop for a valet by 10:00 and have it delivered to its new owner on monday, plus the fact that on saturdays i am hectic anyway and a bit stressed for time! But your Anne Summers joke was good timing.
Excuse my grammer earlier on about the cheesed off comment mate, but it was cos of lack of time getting the van sorted.

Thanks for the explanations. Today I have mounted the new springs on the car.It was awful, I worked in the yard and the temperature was about -1.5 degrees. Next week I want to buy new tyres and I still don't know if I can use 35" ones.

Fitting 35" tyres is easy, but you will need to make other modifications as mentioned earlierand thats where the problems start. You may want to contact ORC as they are the best people to talk to.I personally would fit 33" tyres,GOOD LUCK!!

First tests in the mud. The behaviour of the car was gorgeous. I just want to buy new MT tyres. The people from the washing company worked 1 hour to remove the mud. Great trip. But, the fucking brakes are out of order now :(((

Re: 35" tyres on a 463 LWB G

you will need to adjust the load compensator to give the brakes a bit of a boost.

I know that I have to adjust the load compensator, but the problems with my brakes are the rusty steel brake lines. They are out of order and the car looses break pressure I think. I hate fixing the brakes! Especially in winter after 18 hours (fucking job)

I didn't fit any tyres; fucking job takes all my time. I have also to replace the cooling radiator to my KTM. I have it but I don't have time to replace it.

I have a KTM LC4 640 Prestige Supermoto. It is a great motorcycle, especially in the city, unfortunately if you are falling down with it, the radiators are exposed. I have changed the transmisson gears for wheelies and stunts.
