Tyre pressures - on road

As I don't have a manual for my car, what are teh recommended tyre pressures for on road use?

Also check on the rear fuel flap, normally has a sticker in there that tells you the pressures.

I have always worked on the fact that tyre size was irrelevant to what tyre pressures to run. Tyre pressures mainly being dictated by weight & its distribution. Of course specific performance requirements can be achieved by altering tyre pressures. ( this is from my knowledge in performance road cars etc so might not be the case with big 4x4's :) )

Basically the bigger the tyre the lower the pressure, the same weight is being supported over a larger area.
