The electric motor drives the sunroof to close but stops just short It is prior to the two side (one either side) locating pins and the centre latch actually strike anything. I assume the motor is under the trim in the sunroof but not 100% It sounds as its there. I wonder if the motor is not man enough or am I off track 1987 280LWB A4 auto petrol Cheers Gary

In don't know where the sunroof is in a 460 but I suspect that it is in the same place as in a 463, ie. under the trim of the rear LHS quarter panel. See attached excerpt from the 463 user's manual for instructions

:?: I do not reckon on an electrical fault to your sunroof. I suspect, more of a tracking fault. At the rear, left side (nearside) of your vehicle, just below the speaker holes in the cover, you will find the sunroof motor. After removing the cover manually operate the sunroof motor by the hexaganol head to see what happens. If as I suspect it is tracking problem, your sunroof will stop just as it would, you electrically operating it.
You will then need to check out the tilt levers either side ofthe s/roof, press them with your finger to check for free movement or remedy any resistriction here.
Is it possible to operate the tilt of s/roof? Do you have to operate your switch twice to complete on complete cycle of s/roof slide?
You may just have to re-initiate your switch, if you can open your s/roof from a fully closed position with your switch, close it after opening in one go. Hold your switch for at least 10 seconds before releasing at the end of either opening and closingyour s/roof.
After trying the above give me a call if youneed more assistance.

 I am sorry, I could have got it wrong. I just had a look at your photo gallery, whilst knowing the 460 did not have factory fitted s/roofs, I gave benefit of the doubt, to me being wrong.
Any how, going back to your photo, I reckognise the s/roof fitted to your vehicle, it is an after market by Webasto, in which case my advise on re-programming the switch is now obselete.
I think I have looked at the problem before without success, I fear the motor is weak or not efficiently operating.
When I come across a dealer for Webasto I will let you know.

Sorry
