The fan belt broke so needs to be replaced. I have slackened the top 17Mm bolt but bottom one seems reluctant to move. It has a sort of serated edge semi circular bracket on it . I cannot see any other bolts on it but I am reluctant to "lean" on it in case it is just the tensioner and there is a another fixing bolt I cannot find. Outdoors in the wind and rain not nice any thoughts please Gary

On the opposite end of the castellated bolt is a nut. Slacken it, you can then rotate the castellated bolt up & down its toothed channel to alter the position of the alternator, hence adjusting the tensioning, not much rain in Camberley today lol, obviously different in Arborfield

Thanks What I thought was there were three bolts looking at the poor picture I have. The pictures show a top and bottom bolt with a third for the belt tensioner also at the top Mine has a bolt at the top and the tensioner on a bolt at the bottom both 17 mil. I could not find a third one. Am I missing something. I will look at the back of the tensioner bolt for a castelated nut and go from there or am I loosing the plot Obviously the sun shines on the rightous in Camberly but not so Arborfield, Cheers gary

Right Gary, i've risen from my sick bed!
Slacken top bolt, go unnder car, slacken bottom nut at rear of alternator( about halfway along bulbous part of sump), use castellated bolt head to move along its track to alter alternator position, refit belts, use castellated bolt to tension, tighten bottom nut, top fixing, all done :)
