temp sender location + engine temp
where abouts is the engine temperture located?
My temp gauge needle seems a little too happy to move about quickly.
On a related note, today I was driving down the A1 into a very strong head wind at around 70mph in 5th & the temp gauge started reading over 100 ( 3/4 mark ) , when I dropped into 4th the temp dropped almost instantly to around 90.
Is the high temp anything to keep an eye on , considering the engine was working pretty hard at the time ( foot to the floor most of the time)
I think the temp sender is at the back of the head by the bulkhead, black flexible plug thing with a thick wire coming out of it (somebody might know for sure though) It is quite normal for the engine to get hotter when you drive hard but should drop back down quite quickly when you ease off again (couple of mins) If it goes up after you hammer it and then stays up the cooling system is not working 100%, there is a common fault with the 300GE in that the radiator channels run horizontally not vertically so get silted up and you are left with less of the rad working, change the thermostat aswell if you are not sure when it was last done before the summer 8)
