Hello chaps,

I diagnosed a rattling CC, especially at startup when cold, as something that needs replacing, am I right or wrong? I heard of the power improvement after replacing a cat and am tempted (tho not by ebay prices of ~£500).

Thanks in advance. Any input welcome!
Strange thing is it was changed (OEM replacement) about 2 yrs ago, so a bit early for failure.

nothing to do with the g exhaust but on my other car the original uses some ceramic bits to hold the platinum mesh in place, what happens is the ceramic bits smash and hence you get a rattle or you blow it straight out the other end. i bought a new one with stainless bits to hold the mesh in place and 3 years on no worries so far! will try and find company name for you! it was also cheaper as the oe part was 1300 pounds not fitted the replacement was 450 and its stainless

Ah ok, thanks for the advice! I recall seeing pictures of one that had distintegrated and, as you said, it looked like ceramic foam that was broken down. Might have been helped by the numerous speed bumps i traverse on a daily basis. I'll ask my local exhaust shop as well and see if he's got any prices, and compare with yours...

that's really tempting PP!

however upon further inspection i found the rattly bit, turns out this sleeve on the section just after the cat has come loose..i guess a few spot welds and it'll be good as new..

The bracket marked with the arrow should be holding the exhaust there with a rubber link. Check the othr side of your G to see how it should be.

I think that you are missing parts 62 & 59, Part numbers A4634922141 and A3814920082 respectively

Thanks for that Morty! You got me worried there for a minute, but this shot shows things a bit more clearly :)
That sleeve on the left slides up and down freely, I can't imagine what it's for, other than to shield some heat off the rest of the car.

Sorry, I did not read you previous post properly. You are correct, that sleeve should not be loose. You need to have it reattached to the exhaust so that it doe not rattle anymore...
