I've a new idea, now i've cut the roof off my G im thinking about shortening the rear of the body. I think if the rear is moved forward by about 180mm the rear cross member will become the back bumper.....

Re: bob tailing a G

Hoi,
I have bobtailed my G and also made some kind of pickup from it.
For the moment I can not post any more pictures but if you want I can send them by E-mail.

I have shortened the rear for about 35 cm. I cut the frame about 5 inch 10 cm begind the round traverses in the rear. The body was also shortened in the middle so I kept the end and just moved it forward and rewelded it.
There is a small picture on this forum in the subject member from Belgium.
I have more recent pictures but, .....
Best regards,
Dirk

Hoi,
Here some pictures of my bobtail.
These are taken outside and should be a little bit clearer.

This picture above is from the rear. Ther the G lost about 35 cm of the frame, but with the winch mounting plate I believe it will only be about 25 cm that she will be shorthened.
By next week the new wheels and tires should be fitted. I hope she will still be able to get in the garage.
Best regards,
Dirk

There is a build thread on lr4x4, if thats where you mean.

Tdi fits ok cossie might be a little tight on width and length as the auto that goes on the back of the cossie is quite long.
