Apologies if this question has already been asked/answered, I have tried a search but it raised one question, if I spend most of the time on the road, would the michelin synchrone be a good choice of tyre for a 460 with steel 16" wheels. Also what size would closest to oem be?

andy,225's would be the widest to go for in my opinion.keep it oem totally :!:

as for tyre brandi think avon's do a great tyre for on road performance at a ridiculous price.

contact "h" at elite direct in rainham,tel 01708 527 215.

i am fitting this brand of road tyre to my recent collection of G alloys i have acquired

A very wealthy man (as I subsquently found out) once told me that the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of cheap price is forgotten.

The Michelin you mentioned will not be cheap, you would want to be doing alot of driving to justify them. They will do the mileage and give you outstanding return and value for money if and only if you have the vehicle long enough or do enough mileage to wear them out before they eventually rot off.

Based on the average mileage of 10/15,000 mls per year and three to four years use? Decide for yourself.

I presume Hus means 225/75x 16 which would be roughly the same height as a 205/80x16 only a bit wider and squarer on the rims you mention.

A BFG Macadam available for good money through your local Costco would be a total road tyre and also be a good pedigree with excellent stopping power.

You pays your money you takes your choice.

Have fun.

Regards,

Mike

Thanks for that mike, at 30% more price wise they may be the tyres for me, but I'm only likely to do 4000 a year so will they last ten years?

Will they last ten years?

How long is a piece of string?

Like ourselves, tyres degrade over time and due to some materials used some degrade faster than others. Tyre casings/rubber will dry out over time and lose some of their flexability too.
The premium brand tyres will last longer without showing their age generally. Can't give you a definite on this as there are too many variables involved.
Off the record so to speak you should be OK.

Mike
