Hi if it is the M110 6 cylinder engine you may have difficulty finding a manual flywheel to interface your G'box...throttle linkeage. electric fuel pump and relay.fuel filter and accumulator.fuel tank sender and plumbing. vacuum system. heater plug electrics are all different or in the latter not required..one of the N.I G' owners has an 88 gold SWB 280 with LPG.. open to offers or trades.....I have pics if you are interested .....

Hello I think it is a m110 engine I will make it lpg only and put the tank where the diesel tank is now I have a engine pre heater already fitted soI can get it up to running temp. I also have a auto box of a om617 out of a car do you think this might work or do you think it will be set up wrong and are the bell housing the same ? thank you again

Hi I have a 280e auto G'box in "as removed" condition and the gear change bits and pieces...might even have the short prop shaft..I have just had an SWB 280ge fitted for lpg BUT I CAN ONLY GET 85LTRS WITH A TANK ACROSS THE BACK WHERE THE PETROL TANK WAS...thinking of fitting two "torpedo" tanks along the chassis like the last one we did..but you only gain another 25ltrs with twin tanks...... on this last one we kept the 15ltr petrol aux tank behind the filler neck for start and get you home petrol....

Re: 280 slc engine into 300 g

you will need a g sump and oil pickup pipe. use the induction gear from the slc, but you will also need the correct g bracketry for ps pump/alternator etc. i did a 280ce engine (m110) into a 280gel, was a bit of a pita, but nothing too bad. may be best to have a knackered g 280 engine to supply buts like mountings etc

Re: 280 slc engine into 300 g

Thanks for the advise fellers I like the idea of using the aux tank as petrol tank. Ill have to put an ad in the wanted to see if anyone wants a swap for my diesel engine. Ive just driven a 280 petrol which will be my wife's car its a long wheelbase it felt a little slow (I know 2 tons ) is the car engine more powerful ie high compression ill bear the auto box in mind but Iwould prefer a Manuel box. are the bell housings the same on the 617 and the 110 they look the same. thanks again

Re: 280 slc engine into 300 g

Hi,
I have also a 280ge this one was used as service truck for Paris Dakar in 85 and had the same engine setup as the racecars. So according the guy i bought it from engine should give about 185 hp. Topspeed is around 200km/h thats +130mph if the conversion is correct. ( I tested it ones and the arrow came till 205km) Consumption was always around 25l and on highway with reduced speed ( lets say 100km) it was around 18l, offroud in loose sand an speeds op to 160 the consumtion roose to 35 and even 40l)

This engine is now in my 280 lwb van and coupled to a 4 speed manual gearbox. (By the way car is for sale for the right price) Befor this the engine was mated with an automatic in an other G an performed very well also. The old engine out of the van and the other 280 are laying around and if somebody is interested the can be sold. Also old manual gearbox laying around this one also coming out of a 280GE. The reason why they have been removed was overheating and oil-consumption.

For the moment engines are located near Antwerp in Belgium, but if needed they can be brought to Lissewege close to Zeebrugge. ( Mayor ferry port with plenty connections to the UK)

So if anyone here is interrested just let me know and maybe I can be of help for parts or the complete engings. ( also plenty of other parts and pieces available.
If you are looking for things and willing to come to Belgium to pick it up just let me know.
Best regards,
Dirk
