300 GES
Following on from previous post regarding petrol problems, I have an inermittant problem when starting the vehicle when engine is "hot" The vehicle just does not want to start! probaly once in ten applications - is this a common problem and could anyone please point me in the right direction to solve this problem!
Cheers Bill
fuel pump relay or ovp relay to me buddy (if they have an ovp relay that is)
not sure, but the 280 had a fuel regulator next to the fuel filter by the rear wheel in the chassis somewhere. it regulates the fuel pressure to the engine and if the 300 GES has one,it could be the culprit if its not regulating fuel pressure to the engine!
just a thought.......good luck.
Hi Does the engine turn over as normal or is it dead at the key???
Hi could be any number of things ...faulty ignition switch ...fuel accumulator.... fuel pump relay...corroded spark plug /coil leads...badly pitted /worn distributor cap/arm....how does it run when its starts eventually?? rough ...black smoke....off a cylinder or two... hard to diagnose from this distance....
It has had new leads, plugs, distributor + cap, by previous owner, and runs fine normally, the problem only occurs when the engine is hot and on a restart say after being at a shop or garage! probaly once in ten applications

Double check condition of rotar arm and distributor cap; when it next gives you a problem, self prime the fuel pressure manually, by switching ON the igintion, switch OFF, and repeat this cycle about three or four times - start the engine, if it fires up then, you are loosing in-line pressure when hot. The fuel accumulator has the function of maintaining fuel pressure for hot start situations.
Keep providing more feed back.
