Hello there,

Wonder if anyone can say if the part being held in the photo serves any purpose, or would affect driveability if removed? The air metering disc stops below it and barely makes contact (with engine off).
It is for the M103 straight six...

I guess it's a protection in case of backfire.

As mentioned in the thread, above, it is a stop against back fire. Stops the flap being bent back excessively.
