hi guys, as most of you have seen the pictures of my orange G, thought I'd post some work in progress picture of to let you know what I'm up to with it, its now 103" wheel base, with 4 wheel steer, 4-link back end with 3 link front end, hopefully going to be using hydraulic suspension on it to, as I like the Idea of being able to sit it on the bump stops for side slopes etc, and to lift it to give a "good" :D break over angle!

this might be of interest as well, Ive put a set of front seats from a peugeot 807 mpv in it to, there nice and springy for off road, and of course they have arm rests!

I think I've seen it all now, until your children are old enough to weld and fabricate
...would be interesting to see how you hook up the 4-wheel-steer.

going to put another steering wheel on the back and get a monkey to steer!!
only kidding, BOTH front and rear axles will be steered with hydraulic rams. they will linked together most of the time, but switchable to have the back independent to crab steer, and also lock the rear when the need arises.

lol so it wasn't because a monkey needs a steady food supply that you opted out :p

and i completely agree with piggysims, that shackle looks like it is holding down the rear end by its weight alone! 25t rating? no such thing as too big a safety margin!

"safety first, because stupid hurts"!
its completely useless, its just a bit of a laugh!

haven't planned on doing any competitions next year,I dont think I could take the damage it would get! Ive only realy built it for a bit of fun, hence the cheapo winches, they can of course be changed should the need arise!

a great technical achievement but just because you can, doesn't always mean that you should?

cheers, macus, Ive got self control issues, one thing kind of just led to another!!
Ive got another swb truck-cab that I'm building, could always bolt the two together, 8x8 6litres and 10 cylinders, sounds good to me!!
wasn't that the way some tractors were done years ago, only without front axles, and articulated, "double D's" I think they were called.

Mick,

Shall I post you an entry form for the 3 peaks next year?
Go on, Go on ,Go on................Go On!

We can have yours, mine, Joe, Darren, and with a bit of organisation Piggy and Tony might join us.

That would show them landie boys a thing or two!
Peter Perfect might even come as winch monkey.

Remember YES WE CAN!

Regards,

Mike

Re: 4-link & 4-steer G-wagen

mike, I will be AT the three peaks next year!!
sure we know how to find the nightclub now!!!
the only thing is I don't know whether or not I will driving, I actually really like the hardship of being a winch monkey, I think Id get bored siting in a jeep! I just end up jumping out and running around with winch cables, sure you seen what Is like!! (I race enduros on bikes for fun!!)

Re: 4-link & 4-steer G-wagen

Well ive done feic all with this the last two years, been too busy drinking, racing bikes, and playing with girls, well i did finish the black edition and put a 606 in it in that time too.
plans have changed a fair bit with this, though long and hard about chopping up the body and cage as its just to big and heavy for Irish off road events, in the end I though that would be a waste!
So.....the plan is take the body and cage off this chassis, put them on another stock chassis (cheers eddie) and build a tube buggy type frame on this chassis.....still with me?
