Just a quick note to say hello, just joined properly although have been lurking around the forums for a while now - looking forward to the benefits the membership has to offer to keep our works GD290 LWB LHD running and looking well. Not many GD290's in the UK......
G has been tinted in the back and runs on 235/85r16s muds and is very impressive offroad as I had the fun to prove during 2 days continuous driving at the Millbrook off road curcuit last year...... although a few more bhp would not go amiss!
See you about the forums
Regards
Tony :D

Re: Saying Hi and good to be on board

Hi Folks

Thanks for the replies and welcomes.
The G was imported from Munich where is was purchased and originally registered. It has a UK age related plate and is on an H, so its a 1990 model, 461 series and has been in the UK for about 5 years. Mileage (or KMeage to be accurate) is a mear 66K km, so its practically new.....
Bodywork is very good, but there are a couple of blisters on the leading edge of the bonnet which will need attention eventually.....
As previously said, only mods are the limo tint on the rear 5 windows, and the 235/85r16 Muds on the factory steels. The G has a factory fitted Webasto pre-heater, but this seems to not want to play, so anybody with experience of one, I would like to chat!
Had to get a custom front pipe made to replace the orginal rotted front half of the exhaust - I could get one, but £550 for a silencer seemed a bit steep....... Spares do seem to be horrendous and of course 99% of places have never heard of a GD290....... Tthe rad failed a year ago, and that cost £1300 to replace (and that was not Merc). Glad I don't hold the purse strings!
Can anybody tell me the correct colour name ? Its the same as the one in the river at the top of the GWOA flash at the top of the page......
Cheers all
Tony :)

Wheelhouse had a few RHD 290s over the past year or two. Both a LWB and SWB. Hovering around the £28-20k mark if I recall.

Also don't forget Howard's is a RHD 290 as well.
