want to see a demo on how the pto works on a 460 ?
see here
I owned a landcruiser with a PTO driven 800lb winch on the front. The landcruiser t/fer box had a similar unit fitted to the side. All t/fer boxes had the blanking plate on the side. I had a 4 speed g/box so that gave 4 winching speeds plus the engine revs to vary the speed.
With the PTO you can run it as a stationary power supply for hydraulic pumps, water pumps etc.
How did you find that video Ian?

The twelve 461s supplied to West Sussex Fire and Rescue were equipped with mechanical PTOs on the transfer box, but are not utilised for anything. There wasn't actually much room at the front output to mount anything anyway; a small hydraulic pump perhaps. The beauty of the system on the 461 was the electronic engine hand throttle by which you could inch up the revs in small increments on a rocker switch.
If the Brigade ever release those vehicles I imagine they'll be snapped up, especially as they are extra long wheelbase, crew-cab, pick-up models with drop sides and a removable hard top.
Id be first in the que if they did!!
save me having to build one!
any more info on these?
