Re: want to see a demo on how the pto works on a 460 ?

I owned a landcruiser with a PTO driven 800lb winch on the front. The landcruiser t/fer box had a similar unit fitted to the side. All t/fer boxes had the blanking plate on the side. I had a 4 speed g/box so that gave 4 winching speeds plus the engine revs to vary the speed.
With the PTO you can run it as a stationary power supply for hydraulic pumps, water pumps etc.

How did you find that video Ian?

"How did you find that video Ian?"

You guys have got to visit the Australian Forum a bit more often. Nathan (who "produced" the video) is an AGOA Member.

The AGOA Forum

Although the AGOA forum does not get anywhere near as much traffic as the GWOA forum. It might be worth cruising over every week or so to check out what is happening. Mortinson is a regular contributor so you are all also most welcome to put in your two bobs worth.

Also our (irregular but free!) G'ocentric PDF Newsletter is available to anyone who is capable of receiving big files via Email. A few of the GWOA guys get it already but if there are more interested just send me your Email address,

John

The twelve 461s supplied to West Sussex Fire and Rescue were equipped with mechanical PTOs on the transfer box, but are not utilised for anything. There wasn't actually much room at the front output to mount anything anyway; a small hydraulic pump perhaps. The beauty of the system on the 461 was the electronic engine hand throttle by which you could inch up the revs in small increments on a rocker switch.

If the Brigade ever release those vehicles I imagine they'll be snapped up, especially as they are extra long wheelbase, crew-cab, pick-up models with drop sides and a removable hard top.
