Hi everybody
As my first post, I would like to ask some advice about my diff locks.

Today I discovered that my center diff lock deactivate itlsef after about 15 seconds and can't be activated afterward. And for some reason it can only be activated soon after the ignition key switched on (engine on/off), if I wait a little longer (3-5 minutes) after the ignition key switched on then the diff locks won't go at all. It was working just fine about 3 months back.

Please give me some advice, I really don't know what stops my diff locks from being activated

Thanks.

They work on a vacuum so there's a leak somewhere , my guess it's the three way valve, situated on the air intake box, right hand as you look.

Hi Peter, thank you for your response.

Did you mean this 3-way valve:

As far as I can inspect, I don't found any leak there. But please put in mind that I'm very limited in this sort of technical knowledge

The valve is located on top of what I think is responsible for activating/deactivating the diff locks (because it makes sound when I try to activate the diff locks):

I tried unplugging it's power and activate the diff lock, but it still shuts off itself...
Do you think that "the thing" is broken? Or is it possible that this is changing to be an electrical problem?

Thanks.

Finally found the culprit, it's the diff lock timer relay placed behind the fuse box under the glove box. I tried temporarily changing the timer relay with regular relay (for electric windows) and it works.

But there's another problem now, the rear diff lock wont disengage, the red light still on even after several attempt to activate then disactivate it again. When I use the car for regular driving, I don't feel the rear lock engaged. So now it's yellow light off, red light on. When I activate the lock it's locking though (yellow light on, red light on)...Maybe it's mechanical now?

Thanks :D

Hi the difflock hydraulic ram on the axle can seize from lack of use.... take it off and service it.also change the difflock system hydraulic oil which attracts moisture over the years.this moisture settles at the lowest point ..the rams.. and corrodes the inside steel components

Hi fixwin38, thanks for the suggestion & info
I'll do it as soon as possible, especially changing the hydraulic oil..

Anyone got the electrical scheme for the diff locks and know how to open the buttons panel?

Thanks.

Thanks very much :D
I'll PM you the number when the fax machine is ready, it's currently out of inks...
