I am having my 1991 463 300GD LWB re-sprayed a out and re-built.
Just put a Powerflo SS exhaust on it from before the manifolds come into two pipes as there was corrosion there. Ended up with one extra box on the side before the final exit pipe as they do not make a box a long as the original.
Oddly there was SWB also having a SS exhaust being put on plus they have just done some tyres on a G500 on UK plates but based in Spain?
You never see one around and suddenly the place is crawling with them!

To make the best job together with my local body shop we think the side rubber trims should come off. Reading through old postings it seems they are either double sided taped on or on a metal strip. Which is right for my model?
Can they be removed and successfully replaced?
Better to buy replacement set at what price?
Going to Waxoyl the underside while we are at it.
Only doen 104,000 miles so seems worth looking after.
any input appreciated - thanks

Why didn't you snap some photos of the other Gs and exhaust setup, always good to see variations on a theme.

Back to your Q:
460: screwed on, that's why the strips have holes in them, which also let water in, leading to future rust issues.
463: stuck on with 2-sided tape, very strong but means surface preparation is key to good bonding. Careful when removing them as they are easy to twist with too much force...then you'll want a new one!
