Good day gents,

I have a question regarding automatic transmission on a SWB G300 1994 with any years of LWB G300 as I'm planning to change the whole lot to a new one or better one. The questions are does it fits perfectly or are there any changes or different parts/mounting that will require modification on my SWB G300 1994? If there are, will it be the same case if I took the whole unit of automatic transmission from 1990s E300?

Cheers!

Re: Transmission Swap

Hi the same box fits LWB/SWB ...probably assembly /part number W4A028 722.394 or 396 if 4 speed... or W5A330 722.610.611 5 speed.if changing from 4 speed to 5 speed you will require the matching gear selector fitment....

Hi, So this means both tranny will work with standard 1995 W463 and all its drivetrain components? Where can I find the 5 speed auto gearbox?

Cheers

Have one here that I was going to put in my 460 but it is 2" longer than a 720 so quite a bit of work would have needed to be done to fit it. I do not know the length of a 722 though. If you do go with a 5 speed make sure it is the early one before electronics were added. Mine was from a E320.

Hi One thing you might want to consider.... the car transmissions do not have the first Gear braking mode that the G' has for steep descents...as far as overall length the tail shaft is demountable.
