exhaust, why is it on the side
I suppose it has something to do with the approach angles of the vehicle, the only problem is that due to the nice weather here in Athens, I can't roll down the drivers window, since all the pollution from MY exhaust comes inside when I am stack in traffic (this is a quite often situation..)
its because the metal tank of the 460's suffered from rust so it became plastic with the 463 this meant in turn the exhaust could no longer pass over the top of the now plastic tank, so it became side exit.
my 460 cabrio now has a side exiting exhaust which has aided in adding a few more horses. definately breathes better due to shortened length.
path, why dont you have the end piece re fabricated a bit more towards the rear tire and facing down?
just a thought....
this all seems to make sense
unitl ive noticed that my 460 LWB 300gd has a rear exit exhaust, but also has a plastic tank
I suppose it has been replaced at some time?
or were late 460 fitted with plastic tanks
just wondering
Doubt if this is because of the plastic tank. My 461 has a rear exit exhaust and always had the plastic tank
lets hope its well insulated, but diesel fuel is less flamable than petrol so I suppose its because there are only diesel 461's. Though I would not want to take the risk.
I had a 1990 460 with a plastic tank and exhaust out the back, don't know if it was original, but it didn't look after market.
The only reason I can think of is because people keep squashing it at the back. The first thing I do to a 460 is move the exhaust and number plate, because they WILL be damaged on the first trip.
woaou!!
thanx for that
