Hello there,
I started a project a few years ago for my neighbour and former employer, when i was an apprentice. I put a 300d 5 cylinder engine into a 280GE auto. I left the petrol auto box in it and i only got as far as mounting the engine into it before leaving for a different employer. Now many years later he wants me to finish the job off and get it ready for road. Has anyone any idea what that box and engine combination will work out like?

It will work perfectly OK provided that the fitting is properly done. The same 4-speed auto box was offered in the OM613-powered 300GD. Slow, but it will drive anywhere...

Hi Apart from the flywheel change for the torque converter. the vacuum plumbing and the accelerator linkage differences the diesel return pipe to the fuel tank and the cold start heater relay wiring it can be done BUT to obtain any sort of performance fine adjustments must be made to the vacuum/throttle linkage system.
