Thought this was quite interesting. Never seen one with a removeable hard top before.
I take it this top is not available through MB?
I like the nudge bar as well.
The Wolf model seems like a good basis for an interesting project.

Re: Removable Hard Top

Hi this is actually a proper cabrio wth a"Snoode" hardtop.. cost around Euro 3500...not much advantage on the UK RHD Model as it came as a pickup without the rear seat.seatbelts. etc

Re: Removable Hard Top

Hi there. What are the main differences between the cabriolet and the Wolf. I see the Wolf has a folding front screen and frameless doors. Is it mechanicaly different as regards suspension etc.
They also seem quite expensive compared to the civilian versions. Thanks.

Re: Removable Hard Top

That one is an original Schmude hardtop: http://www.schmude-hardtop.de/

They are "expensive and heavy as a bad marriage" as my pal Freyer loves to say. Freyer's G300 Cabrio is fitted with one of those. It is 90% like driving in a standard SWB GWagen, only that when summer comes you remove the top and can feel the wind in your face.

Mechanically, there are no big differences between a civilian W460 250GD and a German Army Wolf other than the ones you have mentioned and the electrics, which are 24 volts in the military version. They have the same OM602 N/A 5-cylinder 2.5 litre diesel engine producing some 84-92 HP and the same axles and transfer case. The Wolf is fitted however with the Transporter dogleg Gearbox witha crawling first gear and a direct 5th.

The reason for being so pricey is that they generally have low miles and the expensive ones are in generally very good nick.

Re: Removable Hard Top

that looks like a home made hardtop

freyer's is the schmude for sure and the most commonly available model.
the hardtop on my G is a bit of a mystery to me. i have only ever seen one before on a polish/hungarian G .

i much prefer the hardtop even here in cyprus [18 degrees today :) ] it feels just like an original non cabrio G. no flapping at all.

i fitted a roof rack too, mainly to be able to hook it on a hoist in the summer and remove it on me own, unlike freyer i guess who needs at least one person to help him, and then its left on the floor. [i speak from experience  ]
