Hi All,

My drivers side electric is really struggling and seems to be getting slower and slower and is now just about closing is it a case of a new motor or is it possible to get the motor serviced or a recon unit?

Cheers

Freddie

Re: Electric window

Hi remove the door card and unclip the plastic sleeve that is clipped to th centre crossbeam( probably red run a quantity of WD40 into it and spray behind the metal drive carrier in the bottom of the door activate the motor six times and allow to cool... do the same again...then put light oil (like sewing machine oil) into the "red" tube and along the carrier then activate until smooth action prevails.. clean out the bottom of the doorframe and make sure the drains are clear. replace door card...**Note you may damage the veneer or the fixture behind on the small piece of wood trim above the hande. use a thin flat wide blade to pry it off .. if you break the lugs use number plate adhesive pads to stick it back on the doorcard..FIY!! that piece will cost you GBP 96 + vat and ten weeks delivery from MB......

Re: Electric window

If everything suggested does not solve the problem (most probably in a 18 year-old G) then you'll need to replace the motor. Fortunately Bosch sells the OEM unit to the public. Ref No is 0130821070 (UK driver's side RHS). It costs some € 150 + VAT

Re: Electric window

I had the problem that the window was working fine and suddenly stoped about one cm down without warning.

The motor was new so i doubted it had failed. I followed fixwins guide but the motor only sounded strained so i stripped the whole system out and the spring was ramed with a black goo at the corner. I had to prise the tube appart slightly after well lubing to allow any movement. There was a small kink in the tube also. It is now as good as new.

Thanks again peter!

Re: Electric window

I have a window that doesn't go smooth in the 270...It hesitates at a certain point halfway travel and makes a very unhealthy metallic clanky noise.
Is this a known issue?

Re: Electric window

Hi the spiral drive is partially siezed and the motor drive shaft cog is jamming and jumping across the teeth.could be badly damaged or you might be able to cure it with a good clean and lube....

Re: Electric window

Easy,
From what I have read the window mechanism in the post 2000 Gs is a cheapened system and is prone to failure. If you leave it too long the window will fall down and remain there. You need to strip it out and examine

Re: Electric window

will do...previous owner said the electrical windows were the only thing that really went wrong with the car. He told stories about windows falling into doors. He said MB changed all four window mechanisms of all doors to a newer uprated version.
I want to nip this in the butt before I lose a window...
