Introduction of the new G-Class Sales team at MB World
All,
Just wanted to introduce ourselves here at Mercedes-Benz World as we'll be looking after the G-Class when it returns to the UK later this year through the Specialist Products Division in Brooklands.
We're looking forward to working with both current and new owners with this iconic brand and welcome any comments.
Our dedicated G-Class website will be updated shortly with all the model information and options available - we'll let you know when it goes live!
The allocation of cars for this year will be very limited and we encourage any interested purchasers to reserve and build slot with a deposit now.
Please contact one of the Personal Liaison Managers to discuss in the further detail. Either call us on 0845 600 3142 or e-mail us at specialistproducts@daimler.com.
Thanks
Specialist Product Division
Mercedes-Benz World, Brooklands.
Music to our ears!! :D :D :D
Fastastic!!!
Yeah, music allright but its a pity the song is "if I were a rich man"!
But I suppose we have to start somewhere!
Regards,
Mike
Isn`t there an off road track there? Does that mean we can test drive one round it..........
Ideal location for the next Agm
Did i hear this somewere ???
thats great news !!
but they had to wait till i left the country..... :?
i think we all play a small role in this move in the right direction
would just like to salute you all [almost all] 8)
Welcome to the forum! You have access to one of the largest (organised?) groups of G-wagen lovers in the world. English-speaking I mean.
I look forward to seeing all kinds of G variants - all over the world, but this is great news especially for the UK market...
Great news!
Meh - No 500's :(
But welcome anyway.... any chance you can get me a discount on a new gear box for a G500?
Spider1V
spider, wot wrong with the one on the G500 :(
An interesting post, have followed and listened to the progress of the RHD g wagen to be re-sold into the uk, but do wonder MB UK decision to re-sell the g, what research have they done ? and forecasts, a limited number for a limited Market.
Out of 350 or so members, 340 are tyre kickers as they simply don't have the funds!. I remember a figure of 250 or even 500 would need to be made to make it viable, regardless of the Australian contract, as those vehicles are so different in many ways.
How many lhd owners would now consider a new rhd, and how many would now consider a rhd G, instead of an equally spec'd 4x4? Will be an interesting 18months

I think Ian instead of being sold as a mainstream model such as the ML and GL its going to be along the lines of the maybach, which i prefer in all hosestly keeps it exclusive and not mainstream, i think if it became to common it would ruin the image, think how many range rovers you see, there are 8or9 on my parents road alone, there is no wow factor anymore.
as for the models, its like the range rover line up, they only offer the td's and the supercharged now, on the thought that if your going all out for petrol you go big, if your being careful you go diesel, and we know how good these new diesels are.
Im glad they are being bought back, hopefully they will still be around when im getting the Dr. paychecks that are actually worth anything (but that may not be for a while) and i look forward to a little trip to brooklands to have a look around and remember why i still want one more than anything else on the road!

I think this is great news, and cant wait! Im seriously considering the G55 so im hoping that my situation allows in the near future.
Great decision MB.
I got first dibs on a cheap Ex demo/2nd hand diesel
Lydia still remembers the hi-spec one she sat in at Max's

are you sure you would want the ex demo marcus?
With a full MB warrenty on an automatic why not?
Erm, and I did say CHEAP.

Well when you go and chose it can the other 340 of us come along to kick the tyres please
First of all, thanks for the positive feedback! We as well are quite excited about this "re-launch" in the UK. Anyhow, we do believe that there is a strong demand for the G but it will remain very limited in terms of orders per annum.
Of course we are also aware that not every GWOA Member will be ordering a new model. We have built them too well in the past for that kind of demand :-)
Regarding the model range. The 350 CDI and 55 AMG have been confirmed, we are not sure about the 500 yet.
How about a re-launch party then? Get a few G's of yesteryear going round the track.....old and new picture opportunities....show what a wholseome bunch us G-wagen owners are and everyone'll want one!

Actually would second this , however get your 'Jungle Track' suitably beefed up, otherwise you will fall flat, the current track, while difficult for the ML/GL is a cake walk for a G!
By the way - for the party can you so some sandwiches WITHOUT mayonnaise please?

Having spoke to a tyre kicker member, who it seems has contacted both mbuk and brooklands on the back of this post, neIther are aware of the g wagen being re-introduced into uk!, also having contacted the email number supplied it seems it's for the maybach. So can we have contact names and a number, for the potential buyers, T baskil to name one, his purchase of a 420 ml was due to no rhd diesel g being available. Once we have this we can pass it on to members who don't use this forum via personal email and our newsletter !
With all due respect to MBUK, this sounds to me like the usual bullsmanure. I certainly hope that I am wrong but last time I entered a MB dealership in the UK they said to me: "But, we don't do GWagens, Sir" (with that snob tone they would use if they were saying: "But we don't do tractors at Mercedes Mayfair, Sir").
Shame on MBUK! They only re-introduce the G-Wagen when they become fashionable among the bling-loving community in the U.S. of A!
G-Wagens rule!

Just to put minds at rest - I can assure members that this is a genuine post by MB. I have spoken with somebody at MB and will speak again in the next week.
Once more details are confirmed you will find out here.....

Don't relish countering the words of Jesus...but I think we are being a bit negative here....this is an absolute +ve!!... for years we have all lamented the passing of the RHD G... titalated on occasion by the odd release of unobtainable models....100 G55's etc..
The bottom line is, with the manufacture of these vehicles..our passion for G's with steering wheels on the side suited for our country...can continue for decades....percolating downwards to all budgets.
I for one am buoyed at the prospect and look forward to the purchase of my dream "Retirement car"....a few short years ahead.
Well done MB UK...well done Graz + a big thanks, from me at least :D
Excellently put Martin.
I agree.
I agree entirely Marty. Were it not for this development, RHD G's would end up as period pieces, unable to be used as nature intended. In ten years time a 463 300GE or GD would be 25 years old, not many people are going to want to drive something like that around on daily basis as their main car. LHD or a non-G would be the only options (what would Spider have done?!)
This will provide an oppertunity for those who know to get their hands on a nearly new G for half the list price and enjoy many years of happy motoring (assuming the government don't increase the tax too much more!).
Now hows about this party......
I am looking for an english manual for the "PUR" or "professional"
as our 280cdi was only supplied with a french manual. Our dealer says he can't get an english (or even better Dutch) one.
Can you UK G guys help out? digital PDF version would also be perfect...

I would send a PM to the user: M-B UK G-Class Division given that "he does not wish to receive e-mails"
Is this a commercially driven attitude? Methinks NOT!

Where does it say they don't wish to receive emails?

When you go to his profile in this forum and you click on the "E-mail" button you get a message reading "Information:

Then e-mail them at this address specialistproducts@daimler.com
and ask them when will they produce the English version.... I doubt that they would produce one for the Pur but surely they must produce on¡e for the Professional now that they intend to import it. Cheers
thanks,
I've sent them my question in an email.
